Forex Autopilot or FAPS is a simple download program which comes with a wide range of additional options included as standard.

Designed by Marcus Leary, a forex specialist and Steven Strauss, a software design specialist, FAPS is intended to provide full automation of your forex trading platform and seamlessly links into your trading account.

Given the large number of automated software forex solutions available on the market, FAPS claims a lot but does it really deliver?

Firstly, the download, installation and configuration went very smoothly and we had the software up and running in a live trading environment in 30 minutes.  The instructions and prompts are clear for a novice to use and in this case, the vendor’s claims were on the money.

One of the major claims for the software is the “set it and forget” automation (staying in the military vernacular, some use “fire and forget”) which allows the user to fully automate trading with little or no oversight of the robot.  Irrespective of any other claims and additional extras, we consider this to be a prime test of a solutions ability as it is no use having semi-automation that relies on you, the human user, at some critical juncture.

We set FAPS on a demo account with Charles Schwab and let the software run for a week.  Without our intervention the solution traded on the account and achieved positive returns which in a real life scenario, we would have been very happy with.  After an initial tweaking and fine tuning session on the second day, we were able to leave FAPS to itself and monitored the results.  FAPS passed this test with flying colors!

Included in the FAPS package were several additional extras provided at no charge. 

We received a bonus Non Farm Payroll Robot Complement which is a software tool for maximizing profits based on opening several potential trades close to the announcement; one of my colleagues has used this for real and it worked spectacularly for him. 

We also received Ultra Trend Advisor which identifies trends and the underlying strength of a trend.  We tested this too and found it was a very easy-to-use tool which was much more useful than ADX or Stochastic Moving Average – very useful and simple to use too!

The Verdict

FAPS is a great piece of software and provides a low cost solution for automating your forex trading platform.  Download and configuration take minutes and the manuals and instructions are simple and easy to follow.  The solution can run on both live and demo accounts and the solution integrated seamlessly with our demo account. 

There are several useful tools which come as additional free options, and we particularly liked the Ultra Trend Advisor for its ease of use and clarity which we felt are needed, especially if you ever do have to make a move quickly and need information presented simply and effectively.
